Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Huesca, Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has a defensive headache – and not for the first time this season.

The Real Madrid defence is down to the bare bones and Zidane’s team may be decided for him as he looks set to have just four defenders available.

Unfortunately for the Frenchman, three of the four are full-backs, with Alvaro Odriozola, Marcelo and Ferland Mendy joining Raphael Varane as the only fit options for the game in Aragon.

Eder Militao’s dismissal against Levante means he is suspended, while Nacho Fernandez, Lucas Vazquez, Sergio Ramos and Dani Carvajal are also out as things stand.

There is hope that the situation could change before the weekend, however, as Ramos and Carvajal are not listed as injured, despite having missed three and four games respectively.

Nacho, for his part, remains in self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 on January 25.

Zidane may have to look to the academy to find solutions for the match against Huesca, meaning Victor Chust could again be involved in the squad, while youth player Marvel was involved in first-team training on Tuesday.

Ramos is a doubt for Saturday and for next season too, as the captain’s social media activity has had fans talking.

The defender liked and then unliked a post which, in reference to his possible exit, read “that’s how we treat our legends”.
