Even with Cristiano Ronaldo ruled out having tested positive for coronavirus, Pirlo elected not to play Dybala, who was left watching on from the bench as the Serie A champions tripped up at the Stadio Ezio Scida.

Following the 1-1 draw, Tuttosport reported that Dybala clashed with Juventus director Fabio Paratici in the tunnel as he expressed his annoyance at his non-existent role since Pirlo took charge.

Addressing questions on Dybala’s disharmony ahead of Juventus’ Champions League opener against Dynamo Kiev, Pirlo revealed the Argentine is far from happy with his lack of action.

‘I talked to him [Dybala] yesterday as I do to everyone else,’ Pirlo said.

‘He was a bit angry for not having played in Crotone but we have to remember that he hasn’t played for three months,’ Pirlo told reporters.

‘He spent 10 days in his room in Argentina taking medicines because he couldn’t train.

‘I took him to Crotone to let him do a few minutes but unfortunately there were 10 of us left and I couldn’t add him. He is available and we will see what to do.’

Dybala is expected to finally get his first minutes under Pirlo in the Champions League against Dynamo Kiev.

But his bench role so far has increased talk of an exit in January or next summer for Dybala, who almost left for Manchester United and Tottenham in recent years before image rights scuppered any switch.

Dybala has two years remaining on his current deal in Turin and with a renewal considered unlikely at this stage, he could be shopped around as early as next summer if Pirlo persists without him in the side.

A report, according to Tutto Mercato Web, revealed Chelsea are one side eyeing a swoop for the 26-year-old, should he re-enter the market.

The summer arrivals of Federico Chiesa, Dejan Kulusevski and Alvaro Morata have brought Dybala’s long-term future at the Allianz Stadium into question.

Dybala has scored 95 goals in his Juventus career having played more than 220 games since joining from Palermo.
