Frenkie de Jong was glad that Barcelona got over the line against Levante on Sunday. The Catalans were under pressure after successive defeats to Cadiz and Juventus going into the match.

De Jong: Barcelona needed to beat Levante

Ronald ’s side are now nine points behind leaders Real Sociedad as they cling on to their chances of winning this season.

“We needed the win after losing to Juve,” De Jong admitted afterwards. “ was tough, but we’re happy.”

De Jong impressed himself in midfield, getting the assist for Lionel ’s winning goal in the second half. Is it step in the right direction for the Dutchman?

“I hope so,” De Jong said. “I have to improve a lot. I have to each season. Last season was pretty good, but not very good.”
