This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, by Paulinus Nsirim, the state Commissioner for Information and Communications.

According to the statement, the facilities, Prudent Hotel, Alode, Eleme and Etemeteh Hotel, Onne, flouted the order by the government on the closure of hotels in the state.

The government also declared Princewill Osaroejiji, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader in Eleme local government area, wanted over allegations of involvement in criminal activities.

“Rivers State Government has declared the youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Eleme Local Government Area, Mr Princewill Osaroejiji, wanted for various criminal activities,” the statement read.

“A Five Million Naira reward will be given to anyone who will give law enforcement agencies useful information that will lead to his arrest.

“In another development, Prudent Hotel, Alode, Eleme and Etemeteh Hotel, Onne are to be demolished for flouting Government directive on the closure of hotels in the State.”

Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, had declared a total lockdown in parts of the state, and also ordered the closure of hotels, among other directives, as part of efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19.

He had, however, expressed concern about people openly flouting the directives when he embarked on a monitoring exercise, after which he accused a deputy commissioner of police, whose identity he didn’t disclose, of sabotaging the efforts of the government.

The government had also directed its attorney-general and commissioner for justice to auction vehicles that were impounded for violating the state’s lockdown directives.
