Thibaut Courtois has backed Eden Hazard’s Real Madrid career to soon explode into life after enduring a nightmare time since joining from Chelsea.

Hazard was expected to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo following his £150million move from Chelsea but he has suffered from a horrid run of injuries while he has come in for criticism about his weight.

But his Madrid and Belgium team-mate Courtois, who also took a while to get going in the Spanish capital, insists it is only a matter of time until everyone sees the real Hazard.

‘Hazard? I have no doubt, I am sure we will see the best Eden Hazard,’ Courtois told Cadena SER on Wednesday.

‘He is the first with the desire to show it. I see him very well and hopefully soon he can prove it.

‘Just before his injury, he played several games very well and there he had such bad luck and getting out of that was not easy.

‘But now this month I saw him train very well. I am sure that in no time he will explode and will to give many joys to the team.’

Hazard has yet to make an appearance for Madrid this season after sustaining a muscle injury just as he was on the brink of returning from an ankle problem.

The winger also failed to make an impact last season due to numerous setbacks, and he has already missed as many games through injury for Madrid than he did in seven years at Chelsea.

But it’s not just on the injury front which is plaguing his career at Madrid – with the Spanish press delivering their own assessments, accusing him of returning from pre-season overweight.

Reports in Spain before the season got underway suggested Madrid had become frustrated about the ‘overweight’ star’s fitness levels.

Diario Sport said the club felt Hazard should have not reported for international duty with Belgium and stayed with Madrid to work on his fitness before the season started.
