Ansu Fati is untouchable
Making sure that Ansu Fati keeps wearing the colours of Barcelona has become a priority at the Camp Nou.
The teenager has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season in the first team in 2019/20, with the Champions League still to come this month.
Barcelona renewed the forward’s contract at the end of 2019, extending it to June 2022 and raising the release clause to 170 million euros.
However, the Catalan club want to guarantee that no one else can pinch their academy jewel from under their noses.
As a result, they want to tie him down to a bumper new deal and are already in talks with the player’s representatives.
The idea is to give Ansu Fati a big pay rise – one fitting of a key player in the first team – and push his release clause up to 400 million euros.
That particular figure is unreachable for any club in the financial crisis that the coronavirus pandemic is bringing to football.
Barcelona want to get this new deal done quickly and there could be news in the coming days.
The Blaugrana don’t want this situation to go on any longer having already warded off interest from a Premier League club earlier this season.
An expected renewal
Even when Ansu Fati extended his contract at the end of 2019, a further renewal was expected.
Barcelona have no problems with meeting the player’s demands in this case – it’s just a question of going through the motions in order to get it over the line.
The Catalan club are convinced that they’ll keep hold of their prodigy.
