5 EPL transfers to look out for with one week to go until window shuts
There is just one week to go until transfer deadline day – but plenty of moves are still on the cards.
Manchester United and Arsenal are still in the market for urgent reinforcements before the window slams shut as they aim to close the gap on clubs at the top of the table.
Manchester City and Liverpool have both been busy, as have Chelsea, although the Blues might not be done just yet.
There could also be outgoings to make room for new additions in what is set to be a busy final week as United eye a new right winger and Arsenal look for midfield reinforcements.
Here are five transfers to look out for in the final week of the window
1) Jadon Sancho to Man Utd
Manchester United’s pursuit of Jadon Sancho has been stationary for quite some time.
But it is now or never for the Red Devils if they want to get their man before the window closes.
They are expected to submit a final take-it-or-leave-it £90million offer this week.
If that is rejected, then it will send Ed Woodward and Co. back to the drawing board.
It is no secret United want a new right winger with Sancho their top target and a dramatic final week of the window could be in prospect as they look to get a deal over the line.
2) Houssem Aouar to Arsenal
Like Manchester United, Arsenal have a clear priority.
A new central midfielder is on the agenda and Thomas Partey has long been considered Mikel Arteta’s top target.
But the balance has shifted in recent weeks with Houssem Aouar looking more attainable with talks ongoing with Lyon.
After having an initial bid rejected, Arsenal are set to submit a further approach for the playmaker.
Lyon are demanding £44million and insist Arsenal are currently far from their valuation.
Aouar is said to be keen on a Premier League switch but outgoings might be crucial to allow Arsenal to fund a move, meaning the deal could go down to the wire.
3) Declan Rice to Chelsea
Chelsea have splashed the cash this summer already but have one name left on Frank Lampard’s shortlist.
West Ham have been adamant Declan Rice is not for sale but Chelsea are not giving up hope.
According to The Sun, they are ready to launch a £40million bid amid a belief the Hammers are strapped for cash.
Whether that will be accepted remains to be seen, but Rice’s future is certainly a talking point heading into the final week of the transfer window.
4) Rhian Brewster to Crystal Palace
Rhian Brewster has emerged as a surprising player heading for an Anfield exit.
The Liverpool youngster impressed on loan at Swansea last season and was expected to push for a first-team role under Jurgen Klopp.
But, instead, they now look set to let him leave permanently with a buy-back clause in place.
Several clubs have been linked including Sheffield United and Aston Villa but Crystal Palace are now reported to be the front-runners.
Wherever he goes, Brewster’s future is set to be decided in the coming days.
5) Lucas Torreira to Atletico Madrid
Arsenal’s outgoings are as important as incomings in the final week of the window.
Mikel Arteta is looking to offload several starts – with Lucas Torreira the biggest of those names.
With Torino pulling out of a move due to the finances involved, Torreira’s options are limited.
But he is reportedly on Atletico Madrid’s radar and Arsenal will hope they can stump up the cash to land the Uruguayan.
He has been out of favour under Mikel Arteta and a sale would allow him to spend on a new midfield option.
